Our Three Winners Outraged by Yet Another Case of Anti-Black Police Brutality
Our Three Winners Foundation – an organization founded to combat hate crimes, is outraged at the murder of yet another Black man. As we continue to witness the pervasive injustice in this country against Black and Brown communities, we must categorically stand against anti-Blackness and racism.
George Floyd, was murdered by police officers Monday, could be heard saying “I can’t breathe,” a statement reminiscent of Eric Garner who uttered these words years earlier. In both cases, “I can’t breathe,” was apparently an indication for police officers to continue their excessive and unnecessary force, despite their duty to protect and save lives.
In response to Floyd’s murder, Dr. Houda Abadi, Executive Director of Our Three Winners Foundation said:
“We must stand firm in our commitment to standing against anti-Blackness and dehumanization of people of color. Silence is our enemy. For transformative and sustainable change, we need to dismantle these systems of oppression that are embedded into the state apparatus and echoed in society. We need to focus our time, resources and energy on addressing who we want to be as a nation. As an organization that deals with prejudice, discrimination, and hate crimes, we know all too well the consequences of unchecked bias.”
Our Three Winners Foundation calls for a thorough, fair, transparent and independent investigation. The perpetrators must be held fully accountable. We extend our most heartfelt sympathy and condolences to George Floyd’s family and friends. #BLACKLIVESMATTER
